I know what you’re thinking. The Employer mandate got delayed until 2015, so I’m in the clear! Yeah, well not so fast there buddy. While parts of the Health Care Law got delayed, many parts in fact did not.
I’m constantly amazed when speaking to business owners about the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare. The first words out of their mouth is, “it doesn’t apply to me. I’m staying under 50 employees.” Well ladies and gentlemen, this is exactly why you need a broker more than ever. If you have just one W2 employee, part-time, seasonal, full-time, etc., the law does indeed pertain to you. The Affordable Care Act brought with it compliance requirements GALORE. If you keep your head in the sand, you may wake up and see the Department of Labor knocking on your door with an invoice.
